1975 年出生于贵州。
2002 年获中国地质大学（武汉）古生物学与地层学博士学位，并留校任教
2009 至 2010 年在美国 University of Texas of Arlington 做访问学者。
2014-2017年在国家自然科学基金委员会地学部地址学科任流动项目主任
