Personal Profile

I am Dr. Xiang Zhang, now employed as Full Professor by China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). My research interest is geographical process simulation in drought disaster and smart city.


I got my B.Sc from Huazhong Agricultural University in 2012, and my PhD from Wuhan University in 2017. I was also a visiting scholar in Purdue University from 2015-2017. After that, I finished my post-doc career. And I work closely with Prof. Nengcheng Chen, Prof. Dev Niyogi, and Prof. Deren Li.  Then I was hired by Wuhan University as an associate researcher from 2019. Since 2021, I joined China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) as professor and "Dida Scholar".


In recent years, I received several grants from Ministry of Science and Technology, China, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. I also published over 50 SCI/EI papers, including geospatial sensor web review in Earth-Science Reviews (IF: 9.530)PADI drought index in Remote Sensing of Environment, drought propagation analysis in AFM, and SICR satellite-in situ fusion method in IEEE TGRS. I also hold/applied 4 national invention patents. Moreover, I was invited by TOP SCI journals including RSE、AFM、ISPRS、IEEE TGRS and IJRS as international reviewers, topic editor of SCI journal Water, and was rewarded as "Outstanding Reviewer for RSE".  In addition, I was also rewarded "The First Prize of Academic Innovation by Graduate of Wuhan University" and "National Scholarship for Graduate".
