Dr. Yiran Dong’s research interests include geomicrobiology, biogeochemistry, cultivation and physiology of unclassical metal-metabolizing organisms and bioremediation of groundwater and soil contamination. She has developed and applied multidisciplinary mechanisms, multi-scale systems and combined multi-omic techniques to explore the functional organisms in the field of environmental microbiology. Her group is supported by multiple funds from National Natural Science Foundation and other source. So far, she has published more than 30 papers in the leading journals in the fields of environmental science and environmental microbiology, such as Environmental Science & Technology, Environmental Microbiology, ISME Journal, Applied and Environmental Microbiology. She is serving as the associate editor for Frontiers in Microbiology as well as Safety and Environmental Engineering and as an active ad hoc reviewer for more than 20 SCI journals, including Environmental Science & Technology, Environmental Microbiology, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Trends in Biotechnology. Her work has been reported by US NASA, US DOE and other media and was cited as the theoretical references in the technical standards, white books, and traning material by multiple government, military and non-profit agencies and internationally renowned environmental consulting companies.
