Personal Profile

Xiao Liu is a research fellow at the Badong National Observation and Research Station of Geohazards, China University of Geosciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering, completed postdoctoral research, and serves as a doctoral supervisor. He is currently a council member of the China Civil Engineering Society’s Risk and Insurance Research Branch, a council member of the Hubei Earthquake Society, and a Senior Engineering Member and Examiner of the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE).

Dr. Liu also serves as an editorial board member of the Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology, a journal of the Geological Society of London, and as an editor for Springer’s Landslides journal. Additionally, he is a peer reviewer for several leading academic journals worldwide. His research focuses on stability and reliability, primarily addressing the evolutionary mechanisms and control theories of geohazards such as slopes and landslides, as well as the engineering properties of geotechnical bodies.

In recent years, Dr. Liu has published over 30 papers indexed in SCI, EI, and CPCI-S in leading journals, authored one monograph as the first author, and obtained two international invention patents and seven Chinese invention patents as the first inventor. He has led two National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) General Projects and one NSFC Young Scientists Fund project.
