Wei’s research focuses on the environmental (geo)chemistry and health effects of emerging organic contaminants (EOCs) and persistent toxic substances (PTS, including persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and heavy metals). This includes 1) Fate, bioavailability and exposure risk assessment of EOCs and PTS in different environmental matrix (water, soil, sediment, air and biota), and the environmental epidemiology of EOCs and PTS; 2) Identification of potential/ novel EOCs and POPs using high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) and analytical method development for EOCs and POPs in environmental samples and biota based on the technique of mass spectrometry (MS); 3) Development of novel passive samplers based on the technique of diffusion gradients in thin-films (DGT) for EOCs and potential POPs and its applications for the bioavailability, target screening and non-target screening, and 4) Remediation of PTS contaminations in the soil and groundwater. Research results have been published in high-impact journals including Environmental Science & Technology, Water Research and etc. I have long-term collaboration with research groups from in the United Kingdom, Italy and Hong Kong as well as the groups in China. You are warmly welcome to contact me anytime for discussion and collaboration if you are interested in my research.
